Heroes from father to son

Only one father-son duo has won the GP 500 title: Kenny Roberts and his son Kenny Junior (Photo above). The father is a three-time 500 world champion in 1978, 1979 and 1980 with Yamaha. The son was titled in 500 in 2000 with Suzuki. Certainly between them, they do not have the greatest number of victories but the double in the most famous engine. Between us, moreover, this double is not about to be beaten…. We end up with probably the most beautiful family saga in the history of motorcycling, which takes place in this very particular field of racing on roads, the most brutal of all, the most dangerous in fact the Dunlop family will lose a lot of people! Family? Joey and Robert are two brothers, Robert is the youngest and has two sons William and Michael. Joey is the first hero, he has long been the record holder for TT victories, 26 times, just amazing. He was killed in 2000 during a race in Latvia. His brother Robert won the TT five times, he was killed in 2008 during a test session for the North West, a race which takes place in Ireland, online start unlike the TT where the drivers start one by one. William is Robert's son and therefore Joey's nephew. He never won the TT (but had several podiums there) but won the North West four times and the Ulster GP seven times. He was killed near Dublin during testing for the Skerries 100 race, he is thirty-two years old, it is 2018. His brother Michael takes up the torch, in a celestial way again, last year he beat the record of his uncle Joey at the TT which he won 29 times! And still the thirtieth was on the way when the pilot had to stop to adjust the visor of his helmet. It is very likely that this year, the figure of thirty victories will be passed and probably even exceeded. The Dunlop family comes from a village in Ulster, Ballymoney, known of course throughout the world, we are 10 km from the famous Giant's Causeway, an extremely rare geological phenomenon whose name suits this family well in fact. … We are also very close to Bushmills, the oldest whiskey distillery in the world, a liqueur that we drink, including in Eire, the hereditary enemy of Ulster, by adding lemonade, the trick is called “ Bush’ and Lim’ » it's sublime but we're quickly on all fours. In short, the place is historic in many ways….
