We know it because elected officials keep harping on it: in terms of waste treatment (household waste et recycling centers), it will be difficult to avoid any price increase in the years to come.
Today we have proof of this in the Morbihan center where two intercommunal authorities (Baud and Locminé) despite good results in terms of waste reductionhave decided to vote for an increase in their price list.
Packages that increase
Thus, the elected officials of Baud Community who, however, showed quite exceptional results at the end of the year, have just voted a increase of more than 5% of their incentive fee (1).
Thus, the first package (the cheapest), which allows you to place 17 bags of household waste in the containers and access the recycling center three times during the year, goes from €147.10 to €155.14, i.e. an increase of a little more than €8 over the year.
The second package (26 bags and 5 passes) goes from €194.30 to €207.42, an increase of just over €13. Finally the third package (36 bags and 8 passes) goes from €258.80 to €279.12, i.e. more than €20 increase. And so on.
If we dissect the price, we see that the price of the subscription (€70) remains the same between the 2024 grid and that of 2025. Where this changes is the cost of depositing household waste included in the package which goes from €1.80 to €1.92. The same goes for going to the recycling center which increases by €2 (from €15.50 to €17.50).
What’s expensive: sorting errors
In the neighboring territory of Locminé (Morbihan Community Center), the increase in the incentive fee (1) is a little less since the minimum package (26 airlocks and 6 visits to the recycling center) increases from €130 to €134, an increase of €4. Package 2 (36 deposits and 9 passages) goes from €212 to €218; package 3 (52 deposits and 12 passages) goes from €303 to €312.
So why these increases? In fact, the increase could be much greater if the efforts made by households to sort were not taken into account.
“What costs us dearly are the sorting errors »
Charles Boulouard, vice-president of Baud Communauté.
“In 2024, 43% of packaging waste in our territory is household waste and textiles. They are therefore considered as sorting refusal. They are collected, transported to Rheu (Paprec sorting plant), go through the sorting process and are transported again to Pontivy to be cremated. In 2024, these errors would have cost approximately €11 per household.
No choice
At Baud Communauté, while household waste collection fell by 100 tonnes between 2023 and 2024, the operating costs of the service increased by a further €40,000. “The collection glass and paper as well as the treatment of recycling center waste have increased by €34,000 for equivalent tonnages between 2023 and 2024.”
Despite the efforts of residents, elected officials therefore indicate that they have no choice: “these are budgets annexes which must be balanced.
To help ease the pain, households in these sectors can still convince themselves of one thing: the more they continue to make efforts, the less the facture will be painful… still.
(1) In Baud, residents choose the package they want to apply. In Locminé, no choice: package 1 is automatically applied for single people, package 2 for households of two people; the package for households of 3 people or more.
