After a 2024 season marked by great stability regarding the place of chief mechanics in the stands, there will be change in 2025 with some big names changing teams, or even manufacturers. This game of musical chairs, dictated by transfers, the departure of certain drivers and the arrival of rookies, will thus give rise to 11 new pairs between drivers and engineers, which therefore concerns more than half of the grid.

The most commented on change concerns Marc Márquez who, in three years, will experience his third technical right arm. While Frankie Carchedi remains at Gresini to work with rookie Fermín Aldeguer, the #93 falls into expert hands, since he will be associated in the official Ducati team with Marco Rigamonti. He worked for a long time with Andrea Iannone (at Ducati and Suzuki) then Johann Zarco and Enea Bastianini.

For his part, champion Jorge Martín leaves Ducati for Aprilia, taking Daniele Romagnoli with him. On the other side of the stand, Marco Bezzecchi begins a new working relationship with Francesco Venturato, who was previously Maverick Viñales' performance engineer. It is more stable in the Trackhouse team where Raúl Fernández retains his chief mechanic and where the rookie Ai Ogura takes over that of Miguel Oliveira.

There are a lot of changes at Yamaha, apart from Fabio Quartararo who remains loyal to Diego Gubellini. In the manufacturer's new satellite team, the Pramac Racing team, Miguel Oliveira and Jack Miller will respectively be associated with Luca Ferracioli, previously Ducati data analyst and chief mechanic at Avintia and in WorldSBK, and Giacomo Guidotti. The latter leaves Honda, with whom he had worked since 2017, which leads to a new association between Luca Marini and Cristhian Pupulin, who has been the long-standing chief mechanic of… Miller.

In the factory team, Álex Rins now works with Ducati defector David Muñoz. This year he worked with Fabio Di Giannantonio at VR46, which will have its fourth chief engineer in four years. The Roman recovers Massimo Branchini, from Pramac − accompanied by the data engineer who until now worked alongside Jorge Martín. Franco Morbidelli, who joins the team, will be associated with Matteo Flamigni, former head of telemetry for Valentino Rossi and chief mechanic for Marco Bezzecchi.

At KTM, stability is the priority for Pedro Acosta (despite his change of team) and Brad Binder. In the Tech3 team, the two new drivers will find a technician they know well: Manuel Cazeaux for Maverick Viñales, who was able to take him with him when leaving Aprilia, and Alberto Giribuola in the case of Enea Bastianini. He therefore finds his best ally, who left before him for KTM after their first fruitful collaboration at Ducati.
