Amorim denounces a failing scouting system

Rúben Amorim wants to revolutionize Manchester United recruitment. He aims to strengthen the team with promising Portuguese talents.

Since his arrival at Old Trafford, Rúben Amorim highlighted the fundamental problem with the recruitment system of Manchester United. According to The Mirror, Portuguese coach believes club's scouting network needs a complete overhaul.

Amorim points out that United have failed to unearth genuine Portuguese talent since Cristiano Ronaldo. The latter who was spotted at Sporting Lisbon more than twenty years ago. He insists on the fact that many promising players, such as Bernardo Silva, Rúben Dias and Rafael Leão, have escaped the Red Devils.

Lack of anticipation in recruitment

Last summer, Manchester United missed the opportunity to recruit João Neves, a young Portuguese talent now at Saint-Germain. These repeated failures show an inability to anticipate the emergence of players from Liga Portugal, although it is rich in talent.

Amorim wishes to correct this trend by actively targeting the nuggets of the Portuguese championship from the next transfer window. Viktor Gyökeres and Geovany Quenda are already among the names mentioned. These players embody the new generation that the coach hopes to attract to strengthen a squad in search of renewal.

Past successes and disappointments

Despite these shortcomings, Manchester United have had some success recruiting in the Portuguese league. Bruno Fernandes and Diogo Dalot have established themselves as key elements since their arrival. Their impact contrasts with the disappointments caused by players like Bebé or Joel Pereira, who never met the expectations placed on them. Amorim hopes that his future choices will fill this void and write a new chapter in the club's history.

With Amorim at their helm, the Red Devils appear ready to take a more strategic approach to their recruitment. His experience in La Liga Portugal gives him an advantage in identifying emerging talent and revitalizing a struggling squad.
