The 2024 MotoGP championship has been completed for two weeks. But already, the future season is watching us. Especially with Marquez in an official Ducati.
Marc Marquez is one of the greatest drivers in the discipline. Already in terms of performance. But also in terms of talent and combativeness. There are many examples to express our admiration of this champion. After a few “empty” seasons, can his arrival at Ducati in 2025 take him to the highest level?
Marc Marquez in MotoGP: already champion of champions?
The Ducati Corse Moto GP team has a new weapon next year. And it’s not the Desmosedici GP 2025. Well, not only that. It's Marc Marquez. Remember that the 31-year-old Spanish driver has already accumulated 189 races in the premier category. Most of which with the Honda Repsol team. That was enough for him to win 62 victories, 111 podiums and… 6 world championships! Impressive, right?
But Marquez is also a perpetual fight against his body and injuries since the 2020 season. After multiple operations of all kinds, here he is back at the forefront of the MotoGP championship. But it's only since this year and his time with Ducati. Or almost. The Spanish rider is riding a Gresini, a satellite team which buys Ducatis from the previous season.
But that did not prevent him from finishing in third place in the championship. Just behind Francesco Bagnaia, his future teammate. And yes, with such performances, Marc Marquez interested recruiters from official Ducati. They then decided to put him on the handlebars of what happens to be the best bike in the paddock. At least for the moment.
The team that wins everything
Remember that Ducati in 2024 means 19 victories out of 20 races. Actually, only Maverick Vinales (Aprilia Racing) managed to disrupt the Ducatis in the 2024 season. Otherwise, whether it's an official one, a Pramac or a Gresini… It's always a Desmosedici that won the race. Quite a statistic, right? And the Italian firm certainly doesn't want to stop there. So, it recruited into its ranks, riding the best Motorcycle, the six-time MotoGP world champion, Marc Marquez. And we have reason to believe in its success.
Even if it doesn't mean anything in itself, the results of Spanish are encouraging this year. With three victories and a third place in the championship, it was difficult to hope for better. Especially for a rider riding a 2023 Ducati. In fact, the Gresini Racing team uses chassis from the previous year. We are talking about 1,000 rpm less in its engine.
You will have understood it, everything suggests that with what is best on the MotoGP grid, Marc Marquez could return to victory… And dream of matching Valentino Rossi with a seventh coronation. Business to follow from February 28, 2025, on the Buriram track for the Thai GP.
