The MotoGP World Championship is preparing to take a new step by unveiling its new logo this Sunday during the awards ceremony in Barcelona. But there was a leak…
After more than two decades, the iconic MotoGP logo, inspired by the checkered flag, will give way to a more modern and refined design. This decision marks the organization's desire to rejuvenate its image and look to the future.
MotoGP is preparing to enter a new era with a significant logo change, set to be presented at the official awards ceremony following the final Grand Prix of the season in Barcelona. However, before the big reveal, a leak allowed many observers to discover what the new identity of the sport will look like.
This change marks the first major redesign of the logo since 2002the year the checkered flag-inspired design was introduced. Although it has undergone a slight modification in 2007the logo has remained essentially unchanged until today. The new design, which will be used for MotoGP as well as its lower categories, is a complete departure from its predecessor by adopting a much more minimalist and simplified approach.
The logo, in black and white, could benefit from touches of color in its final version
The logo, which was registered in black and white with the European Intellectual Property Office, could however integrate touches of color in its final versionlike the logos seen in other events like JuniorGP or the MotoGP Women's World Cup. The logo changealthough simpler, marks a new stage for the MotoGP brand, evoking a similarity with that recently adopted by Formula 1which also focuses on a clean and modern design.
The official reveal of the logo will take place on Sunday evening, during the awards ceremony, which, exceptionally, will be held at Barcelona instead of Valencia, following changes in the calendar. The event will take place at the National Art Museum of Catalonia (MNAC) on the Montjuïc mountain, bringing an elegant touch to this important moment in MotoGP history.
This new logo, simpler and more modern, seems to symbolize the evolution and modernization of MotoGP, while respecting its roots. It will thus mark a turning point for the discipline, both visually and in terms of its global positioning.
