MotoGP Barcelona J1, Joan Mir (Honda/18) still on the ground: “I crashed”

Joan Mir's season gets a little deeper in Barcelona for this final meeting. His 2024 season will not go down in history, that's for sure, and now the 2020 world champion is frequently behind his teammate Luca Marini. Lacking sensations and still in the gravel traps, Joan Mir can no longer do it. An 18th place sends him to Q1, of course, while both Johann Zarco and Takaaki Nakagami are significantly higher ranked than him. A situation that should not be easy to live with.

While Marini praised the qualities of the soft tire a little earlier, Joan Mir crashed at the worst time during Practice.
« I crashed with my second tire in today's qualifying, which definitely limited our competitiveness. Tonight we need to check what happened and compare the second tire. I felt good with the first tire and did a pretty good lap »
he asserted.

However, by taking a step back, the Spaniard was able to have a better look at his entire day. “The performance of the bike improved throughout the day,
but we still have work to do on the rear grip. There is room for improvement and I think we can achieve some pretty good qualifying tomorrow.”
he continued.

Some, like Miller, affirmed that the change in temperatures (down compared to the first meeting) did not help the grip in any way, paradoxically. Mir prefers to wait and judge accordingly. “It will be important to see how the temperature and grip evolve from today to tomorrow. » he concluded.
