As Marc Marquez prepares to join the official Ducati team in 2025, the Italian brand is offering him a unique opportunity: that of testing the Ducati Desmosedici GP24, the bike that allowed Francesco Bagnaia to win the world title this year.
Marc Marquez seems to be entering a new phase of his career with Ducatibut this is not done without curiosity and anticipation. After a 2024 season where he raced on the Ducati Desmosedici GP23the Spanish rider will finally have the opportunity to test the Ducati Desmosedici GP24a model that he did not have the chance to drive during the year.
This will take place during testing after the Grand Prix of
Barcelonaa crucial event for
Marquez as he prepares to officially join Ducati and 2025. The objective of
Ducati is clear: allow Marc
Marquez to understand the evolution of the Motorcycle so that he can play a key role in its development.
Michele Pirro: « the GP25 is a motorcycle made for Marc Marquez and Pecco Bagnaia
»
By testing the GP24, the unit that won the championship in 2024, Marquez will be able to compare the differences with the GP23 and the brand new
GP25and thus better adapt to the bike he will ride next year. Although the GP24 is a model he hasn't used all year, Ducati wants to make sure that it can make a link between the different models in order to maximize the performance of the
GP25.
Marquez will therefore have three motorcycles at his disposal
during the tests: the GP23whom he knows well,
GP24 for comparisons, and
GP25which he will have to discover. This will be a valuable opportunity for the pilot to analyze the progress of
Ducatieven if, as pointed out Michele Pirrotester at Ducatithe transition is not expected to be revolutionary immediately.
Pirro specifies that the GP25
presents improvements, especially in terms of brakinga particularly important characteristic for Marc Marquez and his future teammate
Pecco Bagnaia. « It's a bike made for Marquez and Bagnaia » in advance Pirro
on the GP25.
This test Barcelona will therefore mark an important moment in the preparation of Marquez for 2025. Although we do not expect spectacular lap time gains from this first test, it will be an important step in his integration into the team
Ducati and in his adaptation to a MotoGP which seems cut out for him.
