Returning from Malaysia, David Alonso went to join the director of his team with members of his family to help the victims of Valencia, victims of the floods which hit the region recently. A noble gesture, which comes in addition to the many other actions already undertaken by him and his team since the disaster.
David Alonso never hesitated to help the city of Valencia however he could. While the floods compromised the holding of the celebrations of his Moto3 world champion title in the city where his team is based, the latter donated his victory bonus to the Aspar team fundraising fund after triumphing in Malaysia .
The Colombian did not stop there, however, since upon his return from Asia, he once again contributed to helping people in need. He was notably photographed with the director of his team, Aspar Martinez covered in mud and with a shovel in hand, cleaning the streets of the city which was initially supposed to host the last Grand Prix of the season.
“We came back from Malaysia, and I immediately had to go to Italy for the Two-Wheel Fair, then I came home and I wasn't comfortable with myself that week, confides David Alonso in the columns of Marca. JI came out to train, and I was like, 'What am I doing training here, if I can be in Valencia to help? »
“So I waited for my parents to finish work, because they were working during the week, and on Friday we took the van and went there, with the van loaded to then deliver,
he continues. We spent the whole weekend helping. We wanted to lend a hand to everything that was already in place. »
“However, it was not easy for the Moto3 world champion to find himself confronted with this situation at the age of eighteen. We arrived and it was a difficult weekend. Seeing all this… I often got goosebumps seeing how people were left with nothing. »
This weekend, the No. 80 will make its last laps in the smallest of the Grand Prix classes, before moving to the Moto2 division of the same team next year. It will therefore be a question of taking advantage while paying tribute to the victims of the floods which affected Valencia.
“The last race of the year will be very special and emotional for several reasons. This is a grand prix we are racing in in Valencia and all proceeds will go to helping those affected. Furthermore, this will be my last race in Moto3. So this weekend I just want to enjoy my last few kilometers on the machine. I want to finish Sunday and know that I gave my best with the bike that led me to realize my dream of being world champion. No matter the outcome, I just want to enjoy this last dance.” concludes David Alonso.
