A MotoGP rider returns for the last GP of the season

After his heavy fall last September, on the Mandalika track, in Indonesia, during the Friday practice session, Miguel Oliveira will get back on his bike, for the Barcelona Grand Prix which takes place this weekend, final of this 2024 MotoGP season. Having been recovering for almost a month and a half, the Portuguese is back in competition with Trackhouse Aprilia. In his absence, the American team replaced him with test driver Lorenzo Savadori.

The native of Almada underwent wrist surgery directly after his accident, which followed with rehabilitation, before confirming his comeback. Because of his crash, he lost his fourteenth position with his 71 units, to the benefit of Jack Miller. His multiple packages to Japan, Australia, Thailand and Malaysia cost him dearly, but that did not discourage him. As a reminder, he will make his first runs with Pramac Yamaha in the following weeks, in order to best prepare for the 2025 campaign.

Le return by Miguel Oliveira

“I am very excited to return to MotoGP. My expectations are not very high because I don't know how disabled my wrist is before I get back on the bike. It's a Grand Prix with mixed feelings, that's for sure, but my goal is to leave Team Trackhouse on a good note. We're obviously going to run to give hope and raise money for those affected by the catastrophic events in Valencia, so overall I'm looking forward to it!”
