Maverick Viñales finished seventh in the Malaysian Grand Prix, a result he considers positive given the difficulties encountered by his Aprilia. Overheating issues were once again at the heart of the Italian team's concerns.
Maverick Viñales finished in seventh position during the
Malaysian Grand Prixa race marked by recurring problems of overheating of theAprilia RSGP24. This is a scenario that has become common for Noale's team, and it didn't help Maverick have a better weekend. He finished between the Yamaha riders, Fabio Quartararo et Alex Rinswhile remaining 19 seconds behind the winner, on a circuit where he triumphed in 2019.
In his statements, Vinales highlighted a positive aspect of his race: “ it was a good race. Far from the lead, but a steady run, to be honest.
We did more than we expected with a P7, so that's really good. I was able to maintain a good pace during the race, try to keep it and not overheat the tires.
I think that was all we could get. »
Maverick Viñales: « we have a specific cooling rim, which keeps the tires a little cooler »
He also emphasized the importance of consistency in his performances: “ you have to continue, but consistency is important. We consistently finish between 6th and 8th place. It was very hot, it was difficult to finish the race, but I managed it. I'm in a good position, still in the rhythm. »
Concerning technical improvements,
Vinales said: “ yes, much better. Today we have a specific cooling rim, which keeps the tires a little cooler. I had more grip, fewer errors and was able to be much more precise. It was better. »
As the final race, scheduled for Barcelona, approaches,
Vinales expressed a feeling of fatigue: “
this is not yet confirmed. So, I don't know. When they confirm it, we will leave. I just want to go home and restto be honest. Seven weeks is very stressful. »
The Spanish driver shows optimism and determination as he prepares for this final stage of the season which will mark the end of his story with
Aprilia before a new adventure under the flag KTM.
