MotoGP Malaysia J3, Luca Marini (Honda/15): “For the Ducatis, we are bowling pins”

Luca Marini still scores points in Malaysia! The Italian is clearly on an upward slope – of slight elevation, of course – and regularly finishes ahead of Joan Mir, who falls more often than he finishes races. 15th at the finish, he leaves Sepang with a small point in his bag, which is not much, but which always gives more motivation than a blank result. A competitor like Marini, frequently in the top 5 last year, cannot be satisfied with this, naturally.

The Italian, quite disappointed with his weekend, spoke at the finish of the Sunday race. He tells. « This weekend wasn't great.. We lost time on Friday with improvements, which, ultimately, did not improve anything at all. We had to go back to our basic settings. We weren't prepared for qualifying, but yesterday's start was much better than today. It's difficult with this package, but we can't do better at the moment » he affirmed in the columns of GPOne.

Clearly, the weather is not good for the Repsol Honda team, which is currently last in the teams' championship.
« Those who fell began to overtake me again. So there is not even a chance to gain positions this way. If a Ducati falls in front, it easily overtakes us afterwards. We are only bowling pins, insignificant obstacles for them because they go twice as fast. It's even up to us to dodge them! » he added. He is referring here to Marc Marquez and Franco Morbidelli, two Ducati riders who fell and then passed in front of Marini.

Marini, very vocal about Friday's “improvements”, expects a lot from this winter.
« I'm waiting for a new engine, big improvements. But revolutions don't happen, a new motorcycle doesn't arrive. We work step by step, seeking compromises” he concluded.
