MotoGP officials will not have waited long before revealing the name of the replacement race for the Valencia event, canceled this weekend due to the terrible weather events suffered by the region. It is therefore the Barcelona circuit, in Catalonia, which was chosen by Dorna to host this final.
MotoGP: Dorna explains its choice
The boss of the organization in question, Carlos Ezpeleta, clarifies his choice: “These two days have been very difficult, and much more obviously for the Valencian community, but we believe that, given the situation in which the championship finds itself, from a sporting point of view, but also for the fans of the world whole, it was important to organize one last event in this season. We owe it to the paddock and our fans.”
“We studied all the possibilities available to us. It is a real challenge to organize an event in two weeks, but in the last 48 hours we have looked at all possible alternatives and we believe that Barcelona is the best possible location given its proximity to Valencia, due to that a lot of people had already started their journey to get to the final, and especially for the fans because we think it's the best possible place for them. We also know that from here we will be able to help the Valencian community.”
