As could be feared after the dramatic floods suffered by the Valencia region at the start of the week, the final of the MotoGP world championship will not be able to take place in two weeks on the Ricardo Tormo circuit. All avenues are now being studied to maintain the event elsewhere.
It is a logical decision given the dramatic situation experienced by the population surrounding the city of Valencia and the Ricardo Tormo circuit where the last round of the championship was to be held in two weeks. The holding of the Grand Prix was canceled by Dorna, which communicated in the evening to Sepang after the first day of testing. It indeed seemed inconceivable, given the circumstances, to mobilize resources to repair the road providing access to the circuit and to organize a popular festival when the region has not even finished counting its dead. But the championship promoter is determined to organize a final round, which could prove crucial in the awarding of the title, and is studying several options. The last race of the year could thus be held on the weekend of November 23 and 24 on a circuit in Spain (we are talking about Barcelona, Jerez or Aragon) or in Portugal (Portimao) or in Qatar (Losail).
