Ernesto Valverde’s press conference before the match against Valencia.

Athletic Club manager Ernesto Valverde spoke to the media on Tuesday afternoon during the press conference prior to Wednesday’s match against Valencia CF, corresponding to matchday 3 of the League, which will be played at the San Mamés Stadium.

How the hats arrive: Nico Williams
“Well, let’s see how the training goes. Yesterday he didn’t train with the others, he went out for a little jog and we’ll see if he can do the training today, we’ll see if Paredes can do something else and we’ll see how Yuri does today.”

“With Nico we have to take everything into account. If he is not fit and we have the possibility of an injury and losing him for more time, then obviously he won’t be there. But Nico, Galarreta and anyone else… If we have a risk of losing a player for a long time, it is better to wait because we have a lot of .”

WITH

Yuri
“It’s the blow he had on his shoulder. He was quite sore, with some inflammation, and we have to wait and see.”

Alvaro Djalo
“Yes, we think so. We’ll see how he is in training, if there are no problems, but we hope so.”

OF THE

With a certificate
“It’s a possibility , of course. He’s fully recovered now and it’s a real possibility. We’ll see tomorrow, because Padilla is playing at a great level and we have to take everything into account.”

Sign a central?. Núñez
“Well, the market is open and we’ll see what happens. As always, what we want is if we can improve and I suppose the rest of the teams will be thinking the same. Until the 30th is over, we have to be on guard with our players and with those of other teams. Núñez is a player from another team and you know that we don’t usually talk about players from other teams because we have to respect other teams, just as we want respect for our own.”

DEF

Valencia
“Well, they are a team, as you say, young. Two very young centre-backs, with players who also, well, it seems that Cenk is going to leave for Valladolid, with some instability in that sense until the transfer market closes, but I see them as a team that needs to win, with power, with strong players like Guerra, like Thierry, Hugo Duro… last year we didn’t manage to beat them in either of the two games. I consider them a strong rival, who had a good campaign last year and now have started these two games losing. The other day Celta played very well, but even so they stood up to Barça and I see it as a difficult game, just like it was last year.”
