Nine people have died and three others are missing in the douars under the commune of Tamanarte about 170 km from Tata after the floods which hit the regions of South East of Morocco this weekend. According to information reported by “Assahraa Al Maghribia”, the stormy rains caused the collapse of seven houses and a school unit, consisting of two classrooms and teachers’ accommodation.

A Aït Wafqa (Tiznit province), two people died. The force of the waters and debris dragged the car despite rescue attempts. Several routes were damaged, including road no. 17 at the “Ain Ikramen” bridge over the “Ighdi” wadi, as well as between the municipalities of Tata and Foum El-Hassane, at the “Gourjine” and “Aka” wadis. National road no. 7 was also cut at the “Insefad” wadi and regional road no. 116 at the “Takmout” wadi between the localities of “Takmout” and “Assa”.

THE local authorities are trying to take the necessary measures to help citizens and victims. They also call for greater caution, avoiding going near wadis and waterways.
