Murder in Charlesbourg: the victim has already been arrested during the dismantling of a drug network

The woman who died in an apartment in the Charlesbourg sectorin Quebec, on Monday had already been arrested in the dismantling of a major narcotics network in 2021, in the company of a criminal who pleaded guilty to charges of manslaughter the next day.

The body of Jennifer Morin, 45, was discovered on December 16, 2024 in an apartment on Boulevard Louis-XIV.

The event occurred almost three years to the day after a strike by the Quebec City Police Service (SPVQ) which led to his arrest on December 15, 2021. Eight other suspects involved in a major drug trafficking network and she was then handcuffed.

Among them, we find a name that made headlines this week: Cédric Duchaine, 28, who pleaded guilty to manslaughter charges on Tuesday.

It is this same Duchaine who was at the head of the large narcotics network targeted by the SPVQ in December 2021. The latter also admitted his guilt to seven counts linked to this operation during his visit to the court.

Jennifer Morin’s son, Jeffrey, was also arrested three years ago. If the mother escaped without charge, the twenty-year-old, for his part, received a sentence of 1,200 days in prison for drug trafficking.

Reminder of the facts

Around 9:15 a.m., Monday, the SPVQ was called to a home on Boulevard Louis-XIV, since a person was found lifeless.

The latter could only note the obvious death of Jennifer Morin. According to our information, the latter showed signs of violence on her body.

It was the coroner who requested that an inquest be held. The event, initially considered suspicious, was ultimately classified as a homicide.

No one has been arrested in connection with this case at this time. The investigation continues to shed light on this disturbing story.

Consternation

The day after the tragedy, the victim’s neighbors had difficulty understanding what could have happened, in an area which is usually particularly quiet.

“All that’s going on here is the horns on the boulevard because of the traffic. We have never seen something so serious,” lamented Julie Valcourt, who lives nearby.
