For the last days of 2024, the weather should be mild over most of the country. However, a depression is forecast in the north of the country for New Year's Day.
At holiday time, the weather forecast is calm for Christmas time. This Wednesday, December 25, however, France is divided in two. The north and west are covered by humid and gray weather, while the south and east of the country enjoy clear skies. The mountainous regions are thus enjoying a day of skiing in the sun this Christmas Day, reports Météo-France.
The rest of the week should therefore continue this trend and the majority of the territory will end the year 2024 with sunny weather thanks to the anticyclone which influences future temperatures. At the end of the week, the fog could be accompanied by a drop in temperatures, mainly in the upper part of the country. In the south, the thermometer should show between 8 and 16 degrees, and the Alps would be spared from snowfall, in favor of sunny weather averaging around 10 degrees.
Graying New Year
For the last day of the year, December 31, the weather is expected to change somewhat in the northwest of France. A depression is expected bringing with it rain for the entire northwest quarter. The rest of the country will start the year under cloudy and graying skies, and showers are even expected in Corsica and the Rhône valley.
However, the Weather Channel does not currently guarantee this scenario: “the anticyclone could resist more over France, which would allow dry and calm weather to cross the New Year's Day mark”. The hypothesis of mild weather for the first days of the new year is therefore not yet confirmed.
