Following the appointment of Marie Barsacq to the Ministry of Sports, Youth and Community Life in the government of François Bayrou, focus on the remuneration of a minister in . The new minister will receive a gross monthly salary of more or less close to 10,692 euros, an amount set by decree since the 30% reduction in ministerial remuneration decided under François Hollande in 2012.

This remuneration, as deciphered on the site Money Vox is broken down into three distinct parts. The basic salary amounts to 8,305 euros gross, calculated on the basis of 1.4 times the average salary of senior civil servants. Added to this is a residence allowance of 249 euros (3% of the basic salary) and a functional allowance of 2,138 euros (25% of the sum of the basic salary and the residence allowance).

A salary, bonuses and other benefits in kind

Beyond the salary, the minister can benefit from supervised benefits. Representation costs, mainly linked to official receptions and travel, are capped at 150,000 euros annually. Company accommodation of 80 m² maximum can be allocated in the absence of a Parisian residence. However, personal or family expenses are strictly excluded from any coverage.

For reference, this level of remuneration is between that of Prime Minister François Bayrou (his predecessor Michel Barnier earned 16,039 euros gross monthly) and that of secretaries of state (10,159 euros gross monthly), the calculation of which follows a similar formula but with a slightly lower coefficient.
