This Sunday, December 22, Calogero was the guest of Frédéric Lopez in A Sunday in the Country on France 2, alongside comedian Nora Hamzawi and author Valérie Perrin. The 53-year-old singer looked back on the highlights of his life. The father first remembered a rather difficult childhood. “I no longer wanted to go to school, there was only one thing left that fascinated me: history. I looked at the historical friezes,” he recalls, before returning on his entry into middle school: “In sixth or fifth grade, a middle school principal told my parents 'your son will do nothing with his life'”. The future artist decided to pursue a technical career and then become a plumber. It was only later that Calogero clicked and started making music.
One day, the singer was caught by a security guard while he was stealing records. When he returned home, his father, disappointed, did not speak to him. A moment that will change his life forever. “My life changed, I started my group a week later. I felt that I had to prove myself. I wanted to show them that I was going to do something with my life. Two weeks later, he was very proud, because we made our first songs.”, he confided, with tears in his eyes. This is how Calogero started his career.
