Yesterday evening around 11 p.m. in La Ciotat, the firefighters were alerted to a fire starting near the garage doors of the “Entre parc” residence. A fight between young people and local residents broke out according to witnesses.
This Sunday, December 22, 2024, around 9 p.m., a fire was reported in front of the garages of the private residence “Entre Parc”, located avenue Albert Ritt, in La Ciotat. Faced with the threat of spread, exacerbated by northwest wind gusts reaching 80 km/h, local residents quickly alerted the firefighters and the national police.
The situation caused great concern among residents, fearing that the flames could spread due to the powerful wind. Even before help arrived, some neighbors tried to put the fire under control themselves. However, their intervention quickly turned into a physical confrontation with those allegedly responsible for the blaze.
Firefighters managed to put out the fire without it causing significant damage to infrastructure, but the tension between residents and squatters remains palpable.
“WE ARE NOT SAFE”
This new incident adds to a series of problems denounced by residents of the residence located in the Abeille sector, who point to increasing insecurity and poor management of access to the building. Between squats, nuisances and now a dangerous fire, residents are demanding urgent measures to secure their living space.
