The Ukrainian community of Estrie gathered Saturday evening to celebrate at the Amédée-Beaudoin Community Center in Sherbrooke. If the heart was in celebration, everyone nevertheless had in mind this war which no longer ended, in their country of origin.

Since the start of the war almost three years ago, around 200 Ukrainian families have settled in Estrie. Many have relatives who still live in their country of origin.
Saturday evening, around a hundred people gathered. Most are grateful to be in Estrie, but they emphasize the importance of remaining united. In solidarity with the Ukrainian people, but also with all those who are experiencing conflicts.
People will continue to celebrate Christmas in Ukraine despite the bombs. It's a sign of hope.
For Oleksandr Zhursvlov, this big family celebration is an opportunity to forget the problems of the last year.
One thing is certain, everyone hopes that 2025 will bring peace.
