For his part, the juror of “Top Chef” and presenter of “Nightmare in the kitchen” remembered his first meeting with Maïté in the columns of Parisian . Twenty-eight years ago, Philippe Etchebest participated in “À table” on 3. At the time, the young man was a chef at Château Grand Barrail in Saint-Émilion and wore glasses. “It was impressive, because Maïté is an emblematic figure of French cuisine. […] She was an extremely caring person. I remember this little anecdote where, to lighten the mood, she started singing backstage and I accompanied her. It was an extraordinary moment. And she sang as well as she cooked!”he declared.

Like many French people, Philippe Etchebest felt that Maïté “embodied traditional local cuisine, but also generosity, good humor, these little dishes from mom or grandmother that she prepared for us at home”. “She certainly democratized cooking at home in a way. […] She had this incredible charisma, this very strong personality and this great presence on screen. She will leave an incredible void. She rocked my career somewhere. I watched his shows from time to time and I appreciated this simplicity, this naturalness which felt good and which we see less and less today”he added.
