The feat of the 32nd finals of the Coupe de France has arrived. Le Havre is the first Ligue 1 team eliminated, by Saint Brieuc (Nationale 2). Brest and Toulouse qualify for the next round.
17th and penultimate in Ligue 1, HAC hoped to take advantage of its trip to the Stade Briochin pitch in the Coupe de France to regain confidence. But Le Havre will not see the round of 16 after their defeat (1-0). A fourth defeat in all competitions. For its part, Brest won by the smallest of margins (0-1) at La Roche-sur-Yon, while Toulouse went through the penalty shootout to take out the Hauts Lyonnais club.
The Breton surprise
The magic of the Coupe de France began this Saturday, December 21. Traveling to Saint-Brieuc, Didier Digard's men suffered the law of the Bretons playing in National 2. Led by Christophe Kerbrat, former Ligue 1 and Ligue 2 player under the Guingamp colors, the Côtes-d'Armor club took stock of the event. Without hiding, the locals pushed Le Havre from the start of the match. Despite the post found by the Le Havre defender, Loic Nego just before the break, Stade Briochin made its opponent fold 10 minutes from the end of the match. An uncrossed header from Janno from a corner, entered 15 minutes earlier. Enough to afford the HAC which is experiencing a catastrophic start to the season. Stade Briochin, for its part, joins the round of 16 for the third time in their history.
Ligue 2 clubs are falling by the wayside
The feat was also the word of the day for Cannes and Bourgoin-Jallieu. Playing respectively in National 2 and National 3, the two teams released two teams from Ligue 2: Martigues and Grenoble. The club promoted to Ligue 2 was no match for the second in its group of the National 3 championship. Thanks to doubles from Kohser and Bozkurt, Bourgoin-Jallieu did not leave Martigues a chance (4-1) . The reduction in Siby's score did not change anything at the club, which Jean-Pierre Papin should take over as head coach. Grenoble also gave in to Cannes (3-2), a regular at exploits. Cheikh Ndoye, notably through Angers and Red Star, scored to offer qualification to the Cannes club.
