The differences between Ary Chalus and Guy Losbar come to light, confirming rumors that have been circulating for several months already

The GUSR, Guadeloupe United Solidarity and Responsibility, the political party led by Guy Losbar has decided to create an independent political group within the regional community. It is the Courrier de Guadeloupe, the information site, which publishes the mysteries of a meeting between Ary Chalus, the regional president, and several elected officials from the GUSR.

“Guadeloupe United Solidarity and Responsibility” has decided to take its autonomy from the regional majority. Guy Losbar's party informed the regional president, Ary Chalus, by mail, of the creation of a political group within the community itself. A strong group of 16 regional advisors who are members or supporters of the GUSR.

The information had been circulating in the public arena for several weeks. Even if several elected officials from this majority tried to minimize the situation.

The newspaper “Le Courrier de Guadeloupe” reveals the content of a meeting held in Raizet, in Abymes at the regional branch, at the beginning of December. Ary Chalus and his relatives tried to convince, earlier, by “a firm tone” sometimes by more emotional arguments. But the decision of the GUSR seems irrevocable. The members of the GUSR would have made reproaches. The president of the Region, for his part, expressed his incomprehension regarding this political decision, but also the timing chosen .

What ignited the situation was, according to Pierre-Edouard Picord, the non-renewal of the contracts of group collaborators. Olivier Nicolas for Peyi Gwadloup, the opposition group and Audrey Cornely, for the majority group. Is this a simple rebuff or a real political crisis of the regional majority?

The “Guadeloupe United Responsible and Solidarity” group in the Regional Council has 16 members out of the 33 elected members of the regional majority “Let's keep moving forward”.

Arithmetically, the Chalus camp would have 17 members.

There remain two unknowns at present.

The first, the positioning of Josette Borel Lincertin. The former president of the department left the ranks of Peyi Gwadloup. This morning, she clearly decided not to choose between the two camps.

The second unknown in the equation: how far will the GUSR's desire for autonomy go? Would this group be ready to directly oppose the regional president? In this last hypothesis, the Peyi Gwadloup group with its 7 members could well tip the scales, in one direction or another, depending on the themes.

The key issue which crystallizes this standoff between the two executives of Guadeloupe remains the issue of governance and the institutional or statutory evolution of Guadeloupe. It was already one of the points of rupture between Jacques Gillot, of the GUSR and Victorin Lurel, socialist president, at the time of the Region.

Today, there is certainly politics, but there are also the major issues facing the archipelago. They require working together to find the best solutions.
