The launch of a prize intended to highlight “whistleblowers” has fueled criticism because it bears the name of a MEP (who died at the end of 2023) accustomed to taking positions in direct contradiction with scientific facts.
Michèle Rivasi has built, throughout her political career, the image of a “lobby slayer” industrial. His name will now be attached to that of an honorary prize. On Tuesday, December 17, a press conference was held at the Liaison Office of the European Parliament in Paris, formalizing the creation of a “Rivasi Prize”, in memory of the environmentalist MEP, who died in November 2023, “who had made the protection of whistleblowers one of the battles of his life”.
