Samsung's latest update fatal for some Galaxy S22s

Samsung Galaxy S22 owners could have unpleasant surprises with the One UI 6.1.1 update: infinite reboot loop, random freezes and system crashes.

If you own a Samsung Galaxy S22 equipped with an Exynos 2200 processor, it is likely that the One UI 6.1.1 update, deployed in September 2024, will cause big problems.

This is not the first time that this update has blocked Samsung Galaxy devices. As of July 2024, One UI 6.1.1 automatically blocked the installation of applications from third-party sources, but with manipulation it was possible to disable the automatic blocker. This does not bode well for One UI 7, already delayed and still no beta in sight.

One UI 6.1.1 blocks some Galaxy S22s and Samsung does nothing

Among the new incidents reported on the Samsung forum by dozens of unlucky Galaxy S22 users, your phone could restart endlessly or crash for no apparent reason or even freeze temporarily. And all the classic manipulations to try to resolve the problems, such as cleaning the cache, restarting or resetting the phone, change nothing.

Samsung support systematically suggests replacing the motherboard, which is not without putting off injured owners, because this repair is not part of the guarantees covered by the manufacturer.

It seems that the Galaxy S23s are spared as well as the Galaxy S22s equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip, but the One UI 6.1.1 update has not yet been deployed on all devices, it is likely that other models will also experience malfunctions in the coming weeks.

And aggrieved users are furious that Samsung has yet to communicate possible solutions or an official fix.
