This first holiday weekend is marked by still unsettled and humid weather. Sunday is the most gloomy day with the passage of an active disturbance giving sustained rain, strong wind and snow at relatively low altitude in the mountains in the afternoon and evening.
Weather for your weekend © The Weather Channel
Saturday: often gray and humid weather except in the southeast
A new disturbance of low activity will circulate from the southwest to the northeast with generally light rain and some snow in mid-mountains, above 1500 m. Near the Mediterranean, the sun will dominate, but still with the mistral and tramontane, blowing much less strongly than the day before. Over a large northwest quarter, a calm will occur in the morning with alternating clouds and clearings. The weather will deteriorate further in the afternoon north of the Loire with scattered rain and wind.
Minimum temperatures will be between -2 and 8°C and maximums between 4 and 13°C. It is therefore a mild spell which sets in with the rise of rain in the mountains at an altitude of 1400 m.
Sunday: heavy rain, strong wind snow in the mountains and cold
A new disturbance will bring temporarily sustained rain or showers to 3/4 of the country with snow in the mountains, at increasingly lower altitudes as the day goes on. The wind will shift to the northwest sector behind with showers near the Channel and strong winds. Temperatures will drop again in the afternoon and evening. Near the Mediterranean, the sun will dominate with once again a strong mistral and a strong tramontane which could reach the threshold of the storm. Be careful when accessing mountain resorts because we expect between 25 and 50 cm around 1500 m between now and Monday in the Northern Alps. The other mountain ranges will also be affected with 10 to 25 cm, 20 to 40 cm on the Jura.
Temperatures, falling during the day and in the evening, will be between 3 and 11°C in the morning from the northeast to the Mediterranean and between 5 and 13°C in the afternoon.
