The Winner of the Commerce, Snow & Mountain Prize: A store that reflects the mountain, warm and versatile
Ariège SEPTUORS EVENING 2024 on Wednesday December 11. A trophy presentation which took place at the heart of a show by illusionist Rémi Larrousse.
Taken over in 2017 by Dominique Rayssac, the Glisse & Montagne boutique, located in the center of Ax-les-Thermes, is a central player in local shopping life. Thanks to its varied offering and the commitment of its manager, it embodies the dynamism and importance of local shops in this Pyrenean resort.
Since its takeover by Dominique Rayssac, Glisse & Montagne has evolved to meet the expectations of an increasingly broad clientele. This ready-to-wear store for men, women and children offers clothing and accessories suitable for all age groups and body types. An approach taken on by the manager: “I wanted to reach a wider clientele unlike what we found before. »
A multitude of brands
To appeal, the brand relies on renowned brands such as Roxy, Volcom, Molly Bracken, Sun Valley, Watt and C’est Beau La Vie, while regularly renewing its offer with new references. On a limited surface area, each square meter is optimized to showcase the products, in a setting that reflects the mountain identity of the region. The hand-painted decor and carefully designed fitting rooms create a warm and authentic atmosphere, particularly popular with regulars and tourists alike. Proximity with customers is at the heart of the brand’s success. The welcome is friendly, the advice is personalized, and the atmosphere invites you to take your time.
A multifaceted manager serving local dynamics
Dominique Rayssac is not only the head of Glisse & Montagne. She also manages, with her husband, three other stores in the Ax valleys: Intersport/Eskimo Sport in Savignac, as well as Ax Multigliss Intersport a stone’s throw from the gondola and Nikita at the foot of the Ax 3 Domaines slopes on the plateau of Bonascre. These brands, specializing in ski rental, complement its activity and strengthen its anchoring in the local economic landscape.
But its commitment goes far beyond the commercial sphere. As an active member of the Ax-les-Thermes merchants’ association, Dominique Rayssac plays a key role in the liveliness of the city center. Organization of events, cross promotions between brands, seasonal operations: the manager deploys considerable energy to attract visitors and maintain the attractiveness of this spa resort.
This involvement reflects a broader vision of her role as a merchant. “Participating in local life is essential. This not only benefits my store, but the entire city center,” she explains. A philosophy which echoes the need to preserve local businesses in small towns, true pillars of local life.
