According to information from -, which was confirmed to us by Rémi Coutin, the public prosecutor of Évreux, two minors aged 17 were arrested on Thursday December 12, 2024 in Louviers, two months after the fire in the Mercedes-Benz Davis dealership 27, located rue René Panhard in Évreux (Eure).

They are suspected of being involved in the fire which broke out on Tuesday October 15, 2024, around five a.m., in the parking lot of the Mercedes dealership. 14 parked cars were destroyed. The car wash, located next door, was also damaged.

According to investigators, they acted on behalf of a sponsor. One of the minors also allegedly drove the vehicle to bring them to the scene. Pending a summons to appear in court, the two young men are subject to judicial supervision.

This incident mobilized the Eure prefecture, which notably organized a working meeting with car dealerships in Évreux and surrounding communities in order to advise them on strengthening the security of their sites.

This fire was reminiscent of the series of concession fires which took place on the night of December 31 to January 1, 2023, also in Évreux.

“At this stage, no link has been made with the series of vehicle and bus fires which occurred in the Évreux conurbation at the end of 2022-2023”the prosecutor indicated in October 2024.

This series of fires had been closed without action, the investigations having failed to find the author(s).
