The City of Saint-Charles-Borromée has selected Terry Rousseau as the new director of the Fire and Civil Security Service (SSIC).
His arrival in Saint-Charles-Borromée was confirmed by the municipal council during the meeting on December 16.
He will take office on January 13, 2025.
Mr. Rousseau was notably an important player in the establishment of staff in 24/7 barracks as well as in the construction of a new barracks in Vaudreuil-Dorion.
The new director has 28 years of experience at the head of fire services and 18 years in coordinating emergency measures.
This experienced firefighter has led several major projects throughout his career:
- In Lac-Simon-Duhamel from 2004 to 2006: He successfully led the consolidation of three fire departments covering an area of 800 km2.
- In Nicolet from 2006 to 2010: He supervised the construction of a new barracks while assuming the role of regional training manager for the MRC Nicolet-Yamaska.
- In Joliette from 2010 to 2012: He coordinated emergency measures during the evacuation of the community of Manawan in May 2010, welcoming more than 1,200 people inconvenienced by smoke from forest fires for more than 5 days.
- In Vaudreuil-Dorion from 2012 to 2024: He contributed to the establishment of 24/7 fire station staff, the establishment of a first responder service as well as the supervision of the construction of fire station 11, and this, in addition to strengthening the organizational structure of the service.
It should be noted that the new head of the SSIC received the Quebec Merit from the Ministry of Public Security in 2008 for his management of emergency measures during the landslide on the Nicolet River.
