The progress rate of the butane gas production complex project in Hassi El-Bahloul, in the wilaya of Ouargla, has reached 70%, and its delivery is scheduled for the first half of 2025. This information has was communicated during a working visit carried out by a delegation of the public group, led by the president and CEO of the group, Rachid Hachichi, in Italy, where he met the managers of the company “Tecnimont” in who the project was awarded.
According to a press release from Sonatrach, the complex should produce the equivalent of 1000 tonnes per day of butane gas and 300 tonnes of condensate, according to the presentation made by the team in charge of the project from the company “Tecnimont” within its headquarters in Milan.
Concerning the project to build a petrochemical complex for the production of linear alkylated benzene, a key material in the manufacturing of cleaning products and industrial detergents, the Sonatrach delegation also received a presentation on this project worth $1.05 billion.
This complex, for which the company “Tecnimont” was entrusted with the realization, will produce 100,000 tonnes per year of linear alkylated benzene, thus contributing to the coverage of the national market and the export of the surplus from the end of the year 2027, according to the press release.
The Algerian delegation also held a technical meeting with the President and CEO of the company “Tecnimont”, Alessandro Bernini, concerning the second phase of the project of the reinforcement facilities of the Hassi R’Mel deposit – phase three “Boosting 3”, whose construction work officially began on December 1, according to the source.
During this meeting, the technical and commercial teams of “Tecnimont” presented a detailed presentation on project management and related forecasting aspects. Emphasis was also placed on the importance of delivering the project within the contractual deadlines due to its strategic impact in supporting Sonatrach’s gas production capacities.
Following the meeting, discussions took place with the members of the team responsible for managing the project to obtain their opinions on the progress of the work. Mr. Hachichi stressed the importance of meeting set deadlines and ensuring the highest levels of quality in the execution of works.
As part of monitoring the strategic projects of the Sonatrach group, the Chairman and CEO, Rachid Hachichi, accompanied by his delegation, made a working visit to Italy to inspect the progress of work on the projects entrusted to Italian companies, including the Tecnimont company. The visit focused in particular on the project of the reinforcement installations of the Hassi R’Mel deposit – phase three – stage two, the construction of which officially began on December 1.
