Interviewed at length at the Paris judicial court, this national of Moroccan origin admitted that his actions were “monstrous”, but assured that he had no memory of the facts. He simply admitted that the accumulated evidence was sufficient to confirm his involvement in the murder.
Arrested in Switzerland, Taha O. was indicted for “murder accompanied by another crime” and “repeat rape”.

The murder of Philippine, a 19-year-old student described by those close to her as “intelligent and full of life”, had sparked immense emotion in France and also a virulent public debate.
