The President of the Republic met with the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, this Wednesday, December 18, 2024, in Brussels.
During this interview, the President of the Republic once again condemned in the strongest terms the indiscriminate Russian strikes on energy infrastructure and on Ukrainian cities that have occurred in recent days. He expressed his full support to the families of the victims and to all the Ukrainian people in a particularly difficult winter context.
The Head of State then reiterated to President ZELENSKY that France, with its European partners, made the continuation and strengthening of support for Ukraine its absolute priority. It would continue to give Ukraine the means to defend itself and defeat the war of aggression led by Russia for almost three years. The Ukrainian President particularly welcomed the arrival in Ukraine of the Anne brigade from kyiv trained and equipped by France. In line with the trilateral meeting between the Head of State, President-elect TRUMP, and President ZELENSKY in Paris last Saturday, December 7, the President of the Republic indicated that he would continue to maintain a close dialogue with Ukraine and all its international partners, in order to work for the return of a just and lasting peace, in accordance with the Charter of the United Nations.
The two leaders agreed to stay in close contact.
