Tuesday, December 17, around 5 p.m., emergency services responded to a suspected fall at Roches d’Orvaz, on the border of Ain and Jura. It was the victim’s companion who alerted the emergency services after losing track of her during a walk. Very quickly, research was carried out by teams specializing in this very snowy area. The victim’s body was found in a ravine 50 meters below. The victim is a 33-year-old woman, living in La Pesse in the Jura. She was a mother.
A specialized mountain team and a dog team were notably mobilized for this intervention as well as the Bourg-en-Bresse gendarmerie and the Annecy high mountain gendarmerie platoon (PGHM). A criminal identification technician was present during the lifting of the body.
An investigation was opened and entrusted to the Gex gendarmerie research brigade in Ain.
The Bourg-en-Bresse gendarmerie warns that this sector is known to be dangerous, and even more so during this period when there is abundant snow and night falls early.
