This morning around 8 a.m., an accident involving a tram and a vehicle took place in Bordeaux. Tram lines are currently disrupted. The incident occurred near the Sainte-Croix stop, on the Bordeaux quays.
A gray van would have hit the front of the tramthus causing a derailment. The tram, destabilized by the impact, would then have hit a second vehiclewhich appeared to be stationed there. Firefighters were quickly mobilized to secure the scene and assess the situation.
For good reason: the stops between Quinconces and Saint-Jean station, are not served, on line C. Traffic is also interrupted between Quinconces and Carles Vernet for line D. The technical teams are already on site to put the tram back on the rails and remove the damaged vehicles. However, traffic may be disrupted all day.
This accident once again raises the question of safety around tram tracks. In Bordeaux, the tram often shares its space with motorists, which can cause risky situations, especially during rush hour. If you drive in these areas, be extra vigilant around the railsparticularly at intersections and in areas where visibility is reduced.
If you have to travel today, relay buses are at your disposal. Otherwise, choose alternative routes to bypass the impacted area. Don’t hesitate to regularly check the traffic status on the TBM application or via social networks if this information changes.
