The mayor of the town has published a decree to allow Santa Claus, a victim of professional burnout, to “recharge his batteries”.
The mayor of Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne (Savoie) published a formal decree this Wednesday to allow Santa Claus, who according to him shows signs of professional burnout, to “recharge his batteries” in his town on December 24.
Considering the Labor Code according to which “well-being at work is not an optional device but a legal obligation”, the mayor without label Philippe Rollet took this measure to “preserve the state of psychological and psychological health of the Father Christmas”. According to the decree, the latter is in fact suffering from “weight loss”, incompatible with his function, and the “premises of burn-out”.
“Everyone needs fantasy”
To remedy this, the town hall suggests that he and his elves take a break in Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne during his tour, to “drink local wines” and “taste” wheels of Beaufort and Modane breads. He also suggests that they “rest in the cave of Sainte-Thècle”, a place of pilgrimage above the city, before resuming their journey.
“We welcome it with all our heritage”, explains to AFP Philippe Rollet, who took his first Christmas orders in 2020 “to make people smile after Covid”. “The first year, we said to ourselves that we would get a comment from the prefect,” he confides. “But no, during these holiday seasons, everyone needs something fancy.”
