The Metropolis of Lyon deliberated during the last metropolitan council on December 16 and 17: a subsidy of 75,000 euros from the Territorial Cohesion Agency (ANCT) was voted to accelerate the transformation of the Givors 2 Vallées commercial zone, affected by the serious flooding linked to the Cévennes flood of October 17.
As part of the national call for projects for the transformation of commercial zones, the Métropole de Lyon obtained €75,000 in aid from the ANCT (National Agency for Territorial Cohesion) to undertake studies and engineering. to develop the Givors 2 Vallées commercial area.

The fact remains that “the engineering mobilized will make it possible to assess a development scenario and engage all public stakeholders and partners in an ambitious project to transform this strategic economic zone, classified as red zoning in the plan for the prevention of foreseeable natural risks. flooding of the Gier”, explains the side of the Metropolis of Lyon.
“The century-old Cévennes episode showed that it was urgent to transform this sector to make it resilient to extreme floods. Givors 2 Vallées: more than 200 million euros in turnover
Dating from the 1970s, this commercial area is located to the west of the town of Givors, along the Gier and the A47 (Lyon/Saint-Étienne).
It is the 6th commercial center in the Lyon metropolitan area with a turnover estimated at €216 million and a third of the Municipality’s jobs.
It is an essential destination with a catchment area of around 180,000 people, but whose adaptation, modernization and security with regard to the risk of flooding now proves essential if the We don’t want episodes like that of October 17 to happen again.
