An episode of air pollution from fine particles (PM10) is currently affecting the Lyon/Nord-Isère basin. Faced with this situation, the prefect of Isère activated the prefectural level N1 alert procedure this Saturday, December 28. This decision, based on forecasts from Atmo Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, aims to limit polluting emissions and protect the population.
Certain vehicles prohibited from driving
For the transport sector, several restrictions will be implemented from this Sunday, December 29. From 5 a.m., differentiated traffic will be applied in the municipalities of Bourgoin-Jallieu, Chasse-sur-Rhône, L'Isle-d'Abeau, Pont-Evêque, Saint-Quentin-Fallavier, Vaulx-Milieu, La Verpillière, Vienna, Villefontaine and Seyssuel. Only vehicles with a Crit'Air certificate ranging from classes 0 to 4 will be authorized to circulate in these zones. However, the A7, A7 North, A43, A48, A49 and the RN7 motorways will remain accessible subject to the affixing of this certificate. Furthermore, the maximum authorized speed is lowered by 20 km/h on the axes where it usually exceeds 90 km/h, and those limited to 80 km/h increase to 70 km/h.
No wood heating
In homes, and from this Saturday, December 28 at 5 p.m., the use of wood as supplementary heating is prohibited to limit emissions of fine particles. Building temperatures must be reduced to 18°C on average. Certain maintenance or cleaning work, particularly those involving solvent-based products or non-electric tools, must be postponed until the end of the pollution episode. Finally, any form of pyrotechnic spectacle, such as fireworks, is strictly prohibited during this episode.
These measures will remain in force until the end of this pollution episode, the duration of which will depend on weather conditions, indicates the prefecture.
Differentiated traffic in the Rhône too
Same cause, same consequences in the neighboring department where the orange alert was also activated. But the implications for traffic are even stricter: only vehicles displaying an air quality certificate (Crit'Air sticker) with class zero engine emissions, class 1 or class 2 are authorized to circulate within the Zone. to Low Emissions (ZFE) of the Metropolis of Lyon. The exemptions issued by the Métropole e Lyon relating to the ZFE are suspended in the event of a pollution episode. Access routes to TCL park and ride facilities are excluded from the perimeter.
An exemption from the traffic restriction is in place for private cars carrying at least three people, priority vehicles of general interest, exceptional convoys, passenger cars with drivers and taxis, etc.
Motorists who do not yet have a Crit'air sticker can complete their procedures online at www.certificat-air.gouv.fr. A receipt will be immediately issued to them and can be presented in the event of an inspection.
In addition, the speed is temporarily limited to 70km/h on all roads in the department at 80 or 90km/h.
