The staff of the Saint-Nicolas accommodation facility for dependent elderly people (Ehpad) at the Angers University Hospital had been on strike since the end of November. “ Once again, nursing home staff have noted unacceptable working conditions and the consequences for residents. In all the residences there is a lack of staff, there is a lack of training for new recruits », wrote the Force Ouvrière union.
In a press release, the Angers University Hospital announced the end of the strike after a final negotiation meeting between management, the Force Ouvrière union, and a delegation of professionals. “ This summer, the nursing home encountered organizational difficulties due to problems of absenteeism during the summer period. At the end of August 2024, a short-term global action plan was announced to stabilize the workforce and the medico-social organization. », writes the Angers University Hospital.
The health establishment announces an increase in the number of professional promotions, the recruitment of new professionals to no longer have vacant positions, an increase in staff numbers, and training of ASHs before they take up their duties.
An audit of work organizations at the start of 2025
The CHU care management has started a diagnosis of the work organizations in place for five years at Saint-Nicolas. “ An audit was therefore carried out in mid-November in all units of the nursing home in order to identify avenues for development. Faced with the lack of staff and unexpected absenteeism in past years, work organizations had been regularly reviewed, even destructured. In view of the full numbers reached this fall (up to the allocated funding), work has begun as part of this audit to overhaul and rework the work organizations », adds the management.
