The great adventure ends for FC 93 Bobigny. After eliminating Red Star (L2) in the previous round, the Seine-Saint-Denis team failed to subdue the SCO Angers pros by losing (0-1) this Sunday in the 32nd final of the Coupe de France. Despite their solid first act, Reda Kaddouri's partners did not succeed in sublimating themselves in the second half, in front of an audience of nearly 3,000 spectators in a trance, to qualify.
Ten years after its first 32nd final of the Coupe de France lost (0-3) against Evian TG (L1), FC 93 Bobigny therefore failed to enter the round of 16 table. After the elimination of JA Drancy (N3) on Saturday evening by Nantes (0-4), there remains only one Ile-de-France team, PSG, still in the competition.
Despite the three divisions difference, the game played on a synthetic pitch looked balanced between Angers (15th) which is fighting to remain within the elite and the formation of Seine-Saint-Denis, 2nd in its group of N2, which has been aiming for several years to reach the National level.
Lepaul's superb goal, Beziouen's last chance
Not at all impressed by their opponent, the Balbyniens appeared dangerous at the start of the match. Traoré forces the Angevin goalkeeper to work (12th) then a header from Lasme is brilliantly repelled by Zinga (19th). Physically strong, the N2 team also defends itself technically like its 38-year-old playing master, Farid Beziouen, who notably played for Red Star (L2) and JS Kabylie (Algerian D1). Angers turns their back before creating the best opportunity of the first act. Well launched in depth by Lepaul, Niane presents himself alone in front of Sissoko but the veteran goalkeeper (37 years old) rejects his attempt (25th).
Returning from the locker room, the debates are still as balanced even if the Angevins play a little higher. On a ball near the penalty area, Esteban Lepaul opened the scoring with a superb pivoting shot with the help of the right post (0-1, 67th).
Balbynian coach Mohamed Coulibaly launches Baby Sako, the latest recruit who arrived last month who has not played for two years after a solid professional career (Saint-Étienne, Wolverhampton, Crystal Palace) then the former PSG midfielder Younousse Sankharé. In the pouring rain, Bobigny pushed but was unable to equalize despite a shot from Beziouen being pushed back by an Angevin defender in added time. The dream has passed.
