Canal+ has just increased the prices of many packages to everyone’s surprise. The encrypted channel has started sending emails to its customers to inform them of this new price increase.
Decidedly bad news for Canal+ subscribers. At the end of November, the encrypted channel first formalized its divorce from Disney. As a result, the Disney+ platform will no longer be offered in the various Canal packages. Worse still, the big-eared firm’s TV channels like Disney Channel are also falling by the wayside.
And as if that wasn’t enough, Canal+ has decided to everyone’s surprise to increase the prices of many packages. In any case, this is what user Anaël on X revealed, who in passing shared the new email from Canal+ sent to his subscribers.
“We inform you that from the next monthly renewal date of your subscription on 01/15/2025, and in accordance with your General Subscription Conditions, your subscription will be renewed for successive periods of one month. To continue to provide you with the best experience, the monthly price excluding promotion and excluding options of your subscription will be increased by €2/monthon the occasion of the renewal of your contract”, writes the encrypted string.
List of offers affected by Canal+ by this increase
Concretely, what are the offers affected by this price increase? Suffice to say that they are numerous:
- the Canal+ live/replay offer at €29.99/month
- the Canal+ offer (-26 years old) at €15.99/month
- the Canal+ Ciné Series offer at €41.99/month
- the Canal+ Ciné Series offer (-26 years old) at €21.99/month
- the Canal+ Sport offer at €47.99/month
- the Canal+ Sport offer (-26 years old) at €24.99/month
- the Canal+ Friends & Family offer at €81.99/month
Let us specify that this increase therefore only concerns non-promotional and non-binding formulas. Unfortunately, Canal+ does not really justify the application of this increase in its email. Regardless, it’s going rather poorly, especially after the removal of the Disney channels and Disney+, but also the Press Pass.
As a reminder, Canal+ recently announced the disappearance of its pay DTT channels in June 2025. For the Vivendi group, parent company of the encrypted channel, this is mainly a retaliation after the decision taken by ARCOM not to not renew the frequency of C8.
