The Moule gendarmerie discovered Monday evening in the Grands Fonds, the lifeless body of Richard Galleron, 69, next to his detached ox. In all likelihood, this well-known trader from Le Moule was killed by his ox. An investigation is underway to determine precisely the circumstances of the death.
It was Richard Galleron’s clients who alerted the Moule gendarmerie this Monday, December 16 afternoon. Worried to see the store’s curtain down, they reported his disappearance. The gendarmerie therefore launched a search. At the beginning of the evening, the lifeless body of the 69-year-old man was finally found, in a plot located in the countryside, route de Chazeau, along the D101 departmental road. Next to him, his detached ox.
An investigation was opened to determine the exact circumstances of the death but in all likelihood, the victim, who lived alone, was killed by his ox. Accidents which are unfortunately very frequent in Guadeloupe.
In April 2019, it is a sixty-year-old who lost his life in Marie-Galante after suffering the same fate in front of his bull. In July 2022, in Cluny Sainte Rose, a forty-year-old was also gored. Closer to us, last year in May, it was a forty-year-old from Guava fell under the blows of his animal. A month later, another 42-year-old breeder from Baie-Mahault was seriously injured by his bull.
Each of these accidents is there to certainly remind us of the dangerousness of bulls and the extreme caution we must move alongside them.
An autopsy of Richard Galleron is underway. It should make it possible to confirm the cause of the sixty-year-old’s death.
