Ademola Lookman is the new king of Africa. The Confederation of African Football (CAF) organized its major individual trophy ceremony this Monday evening at the Movenpick Palais des Congrès in Marrakech.
Nigerian striker from Atalanta de Bergamo, Ademola Lookman was voted African Ballon d’Or by his peers. The 27-year-old is ahead of players like Achraf Hakimi and Serhou Guirassy. The last finalist of the African Cup of Nations did not hide his joy and emotion after receiving the trophy.
“I want to thank everyone for their support and the love they gave me. I thank my family and my nation who recognized me as the best player in Africa. It’s incredible for me, I I’m proud of it,” he said on stage.
Ademola Lookman has moved into another dimension for several months but even more so with this individual title. The current strongman of Atalanta sees his rating in Europe rise and could leave the Déa in the coming months or even weeks.
Closely followed by Paris Saint-Germain last summer, the capital club did not continue negotiations to enlist the player. This winter or during the 2025 summer transfer window, it is very likely that other clubs will come and inquire with Atalanta for the striker. Currently, he is under contract with the Italian team until June 2026 and his market value reaches 40 million euros according to the site Transfer market. To be continued…
