The 5e edition of the Fontenay vetathlon, organized by l’Avenir de Fontenay in collaboration with the Thouarsais Vélo club, brought together exactly 60 competitors on Saturday October 12, 2024 afternoon: 25 duos and 10 individual runners. Currently in great shape, Alexis Bécot, the UST athletics coach, easily won solo at the end of the 21.1 km race (5.7 km running, 13.5 km mountain biking and 1.9 km run). Winner last year in a duo with Baptiste Denis, he is the first since the creation of the event to put his name on the list both in solo and in duo.
In the team category, victory went to the Thouarsese pair Guillaume Gilles (UST) Alexis Champion (VCT). The latter made the difference on the modified 22.5 km mountain bike course after Guillaume Gilles passed the baton to him in second position, after the first 7.6 kilometers of running, neck and neck with Ronan Hercé, his comrade from the UST, for his part associated with the Bressuire cyclist Valentin Ménard. In an armchair, Guillaume Gilles, second in the two previous editions, victoriously concluded the deal.
This Saturday, October 19, the Thouarsais Vélo club, this time associated with Brion leisure entertainment, will do it again in Etambé. Alone or in pairs, participants will have to complete 5 km of running, 18 km of mountain biking and the final 2.5 km of running. The start of the individual event will be at 1 p.m. then the team event at 3:30 p.m.
