The square of the Saint-André church in Reims is taking shape

We told you recently, the completely redeveloped Square du Docteur-Chevrier should be ready for Christmas. Also at the front of the Saint-André church, work is progressing well. The pavers are being laid. Trees should also appear, they are still being developed in the nursery at the moment.

According to elected official Catherine Chopart, deputy in charge of nature in the city, the square in its new version could be delivered at the same time as the square, by the end of the year, “at worst for the beginning of spring, depending on climatic hazards”, trees can be planted until March.

For the record, this vast redevelopment project around the Saint-André church at €6 million including tax was launched to place the building at the heart of a true green lung and restore coherence to this entire public space, for give back “more attractive, visible and reassuring”, indicated Mayor Arnaud Robinet in our columns on March 7, 2023. It also allowed the creation of underground storage and infiltration basins “to partly respond to the problem of rainwater management” in this area prone to flooding.
