Despite a weak second period, Union Bordeaux-Bègles did not tremble against Stade Français.

Fortunately, there is rugby in Gironde. The show was on for the return of the rugby to Chaban-Delmas. Ten tries, more than 70 points in total and a large victory for the Girondins, who missed the offensive bonus at the last minute.

The festivities started very early. Romain Buros lit the first fuse (8th) before being imitated by his captain Maxime Lucu (18th), after some great work by Damian Penaud. It went quickly, too quickly for the Parisians. JJ van der Mescht reduced the gap after half an hour (30th) but the former Clermont winger scored his first try of the season with UBB. Nicolas Deporteere pressed the Stadistes’ lead a little more (38th). Four tries to one and an offensive bonus virtually in the bag at home for the locals. Meanwhile, Matthieu Jalibert was at 100%. 28-7 for the Bordelo-Bèglais at half-time.

Penaud deprives UBB of an offensive bonus

Stade Français will have a burst of pride after the break thanks to Sergo Abramishvili (48th) then Sekou Macalou (57th). The Parisians are back to 12 points after an hour of play and can believe it, despite an impeccable Matthieu Jalibert on the foot. The indiscipline will cost the visitors dearly. Joe Jonas receives a yellow card in the last quarter of an hour (65th). Yann Lesgourgues (71st) then Nicolas Deporteere (74th) are in support of Louis Bielle-Biarrey to make the score heavier.

UBB holds on to victory by five points but, due to a blunder by Damien Penaud and an error in judgment, SFP will have a last stand. Sekou Macalou scores twice (80+2nd) and deprives the opponents of the offensive bonus. Bordeaux-Bègles still wins 46-26.
