Jacques Martin died on September 14, 2007, of generalized cancer, seventeen years ago to the day. He was in the midst of a fight against his illness, but also marked by his breakup with Céline, who had met someone else.

Jacques Martin, who produced and hosted numerous entertainment shows between the 1970s and 1990s, such as The Little Reporter, The School of Fans or Sunday Martin, would have been 91 years old this Saturday, September 14. But he died seventeen years ago to the day, after losing his long fight against generalized cancer. His end of life will have been trying for him.

He didn’t want to see anyone anymore, but he had still received a visit from his good friend Pierre Bonte, about a month before he died. When he arrived at his friend’s house, the latter had experienced a real electroshock. The presenter moved around in a wheelchair, with the help of a nurse who pushed him, since he was returning from the hospital after a chemotherapy session.I shared lunch with him. It was in August, he had remembered. He hardly said a word during the whole meal. He was exhausted. Fortunately there are no photos of him from that time. He was terribly thin and pitifully weak. He was pitiful, really. That’s why he didn’t want anyone to come see him. He didn’t want to leave that image. He never agreed to have his picture taken and didn’t want to see anyone anymore..”

Jacques Martin betrayed by his last wife

Jacques Martin was also very sad, because his wife Celine had just met another man.
