The most nostalgic among you will be delighted. Twenty years after its broadcast on M6, the talent show Popstars is back on the Prime Video streaming platform, in a new, updated version. Since Thursday, September 12, the first four episodes have already been available. We can discover the singers Louane and Eddy de Pretto as well as the rapper Alonzo playing the role of jury members. Their goal? To find the group made up of the most beautiful voices, the most beautiful personalities and the best dance steps. A meticulous job for the artists since, unsurprisingly, the choice is tough. On X, the return of the show was particularly well received.
Louane’s minute
If the viewers are delighted, one of the members of the jury is much less so, and this, from the first episode. It is Louane. Indeed, the 27-year-old singer encounters difficulties with the fact of having to eliminate candidates. During the first round, the a cappella auditions, she gets carried away when Alonzo and Eddy de Pretto do not want to keep any candidate from the line. For them, it is necessary to be particularly selective, as Eddy de Pretto explains: “I need a group of personalities with real talents. Here, I don’t think we are at the level.” However, for Louane, it seems difficult to separate from some of them.
The singer’s reactions are divisive
“We’re a team, you can’t do that,” Alonzo tells Louane when she gets angry. “I just don’t know how I’m going to handle this,” she replies. She then leaves the set, crying for a while. For their part, Eddy de Pretto and Alonzo agree on the difficult choices that need to be made. Finally, the singer returns to the set, explaining that she is too sensitive and apologizes. Alonzo tells her that it is important for her to channel her emotional side.
But this is not the only time when Louane may have gotten too personally involved in the choice of talents. One of the candidates, Louis, seems to have caught her eye. But the two other members of the jury do not agree. They still agree to give her a second chance by allowing her to perform a song in French. Louis decides to sing a song by Eddy de Pretto. The interpretation is a failure and the choice does not go down well with the artist in question. But Louane does not give up: she wants to keep Louis. Unfortunately, he will not be taken but we discover in the second episode that the singer’s insistence paid off and that the other members of the jury agreed to let her go and get him. On X, Louane’s behavior did not meet with unanimous approval from viewers. Internet users did not hesitate to criticize her.
