Luxembourgish influencer and athlete Maïté Richert has been selected to participate in the first German season of “Exatlon Germany”, which will be broadcast on Sport1, from Monday. She is the first Luxembourger to participate in such a sports and reality TV show on the international scene.

“It is an incredible honour for me to represent Luxembourg on such a big platform,” she proudly explained to The essentialsOriginally from Nospelt, the 34-year-old has been living in Marbella with her husband since December 2023.

With over 106,000 followers on Instagram, 12,000 on Facebook and 41,000 on TikTok, Maïté Richert is not only a successful influencer, but also a professional bodybuilder (in a bikini) and a Hyrox athlete (a form of fitness competition that combines endurance and bodybuilding). “For me, this is a fantastic opportunity to further develop my brand internationally and share my passion for fitness and health with a wider audience.”

What is “Exatlon Germany”?

“Exatlon Germany” is the German version of the international sports and reality TV format Exatlon, which has already been very successful in several countries such as the United States, Mexico, Turkey and Hungary. In the show, two teams of athletes and celebrities (such as basketball player André Mangold, reality TV contestants Carina Spack and Eric Sindermann) compete in various sporting challenges. These challenges often involve a mix of obstacle courses, agility tests, water sports and physical endurance.

The format combines sports competition with reality TV elements. Participants must not only demonstrate their physical abilities, but also demonstrate team spirit and assert themselves during mental tests. The competitions take place in varied, sometimes extreme environments, such as special courses or open water. Teams compete against each other and competitors are gradually eliminated until a winner is crowned.

“The idea of being filmed 24 hours a day with no room for error was quite intimidating at first,” she admits. But Maïté has gained a lot of mental strength in recent years and sees the show as an opportunity to push her limits even further. The hardest part? Saying goodbye to her husband for potentially up to 14 weeks. “Leaving him without contact for so long was definitely the hardest part of the preparation.”

Maïté juggles her various roles as a professional athlete, influencer and now TV personality thanks to a lot of discipline and organisation. “There are no secrets: being organised and willing to work long days, seven days a week, is essential”. Her entourage plays a crucial role. “My husband and my team support me as much as possible. Without them, such projects would not be possible”. She thus proves “that it is possible to succeed from Luxembourg in a sophisticated and international TV format, without going through more ‘trashy’ formats”.
